Project: Morris Minor
I am currently busy with restoring a 1959 Morris Minor Traveller. If you know anything about classic, exotic or vintage cars, you know that a Morris has been one of the best cars to come out Britian in the 1950′s and is built in the same stable as Mini.Find out more about the history of the Morris Minor here.
According to my sources this Morris came from Britain in the early 1960′s to Natal and was used by a priest who did mission work in here. Since the Priest’s demise my Uncle Yunus has the vehicle until my Dad drove the car to Cape Town.
This is what the car looked like in 2004,pictures to be posted soon.
This is what the car looks like now, pictures to be posted soon.
Morris Minor has a club with active membership in Cape Town, KZN and Gauteng who has regular meetings and rally’s across South Africa. I have bought the engine from Peter Gezner from Somerset West who is involved with the club as well as Gwen Press from whom I bought a Morris 2 door as spares for my project and I shall be using the services of Paul a Morris Mechanic based in Garlandale to get this Morris engine going.
The car has undergone the following:
- Spray
- Undercarriage butumen
- Another Morris Engine
- New body parts: Bonnet, grill, drive side fender
This is a picture of a fellow Morris Minor Owner Dyasi Coat who works at UCT and lives in Gugulethu. I caught up with him while doing Saturday shopping and took this picture of him infront of his blue Morris.

We are looking to buy a Morris Minor Convertible in reasonable condition, but are quite prepared to restore it to it’s Classic Car condition.
